About the BC Heroes Scholarship Fund

The Bucks County Heroes Scholarship Fund was established in May 1990 under the auspices of the County of Bucks and endorsed by the County Commissioners.

Devised for the purpose of providing full four year scholarships for the post high school education to the children of police officers, firefighters, corrections officers, rescue squad and emergency service personnel who are killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty, the Fund is a recognized charitable organization by the I.R.S. under code 501 (C) (3).

General Policy...

The general policy of the Fund is to grant scholarships of 'last resort'. Recipients must avail themselves of all scholarship funds for which they may qualify before they apply to the Fund. To the extent of monies available, the Funds' general policy is to grant full scholarship to each qualified child of a policeman, fireman, rescue squad, corrections officer or emergency service personnel killed in the line of duty.

Full or partial scholarships may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Scholarship Award Committee, be granted to each qualified child of policemen, firemen, rescue squad, corrections officer or emergency service personnel who become permanently disabled in the line of duty.

All scholarships are granted subject to the availability of sufficient funds for such purpose and in the sole and absolute discretion of the Scholarship Award Committee. The Fund strictly reserves the right to modify or discontinue scholarships for children of the personnel permanently disabled in the line of duty if such funds are needed to provide for the children of those personnel killed in the line of duty.
